13th National Schools Chess Championship 2025 Preview

The 13th edition of National Schools Chess Championship will take place from 17th to 21st January 2025. A total of 1214 children have registered in six different age groups - Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. The tournament is organized by Andhra Chess Association at Sri Prakash Synergy School, Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh. The total prize fund is ₹504000. The top three prizes in each category is ₹10000, ₹7000 and ₹6000 each respectively. As many as 14 different champions will be crowned in the next days. Adithya A Chullikad (2166, KAR) will be the highest rated player of the event playing in the U-17 Open category. 1214 children to take part in India's biggest Chess Festival

The National Schools Chess championship is the biggest chess tournament in India in terms of number of participants. 1214 children are slated to take part from various parts of the country in six different age groups in Open and Girls section.

The tournament is organized by Andhra Chess Association. Only school students of Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 will be eligible to take part in Open and Girls event.

Adithya A Chullikad (2166, Kerala) will be the highest-rated player of the event, taking part in the U-17 Open category.

Tournament schedule and location:

The tournament will take place from 17th to 21st January 2024. There will be double round every day except the last day which has only one round. Check the image below for the complete schedule.

Prize Structure

The total prize fund of the tournament is ₹504000. The top three prizes in each category is - ₹10000, ₹7000 and ₹6000. Check the image below for age proof and dress code details.

System of play, Default time and Time control

There will be nine rounds in each category. Default time is 30 minutes. Time control will be 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move. For more details, check the image below.
