The final round
In the final round, four players, including IM Nitin S, FM Rohith S, CM Karthik Sai Ch, and FM Nishant Abhijeet Jawalkar, were co-leading with 7/8 points. All the games between co-leaders ended in a draw, and 6 players finished on 7.5/9 points.
A total of 402 players took part in this 5-day FIDE-rated classical chess tournament with a time control of 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment from the first move. The tournament was organised by Veer Chess Academy from 17th to 21st October 2026 at Sri Krishna Goundar Kalyana Mandapam, Ganapathy, Coimbatore.
Round-wise Special Guests
The Round 1 special guests were Mr. Hare Krishna and Mrs. Vaishnavi, identified as investors of Manchester City Chess Festival, Inaugurated by the special guest with the presence of Chief Arbiter and Vice President OF Tamil Nadu State Chess Association IA Vijayaraghavan and Deputy Chief Arbiter and Joint Secretary of Coimbatore District Chess Association IA Sandeep T along with Mr. Dhanasekar K, Secretary of Coimbatore District Chess Association, Mr. Mukhesh C, Joint Secretary of Coimbatore District Chess Association, Mr. Deepan Raj SV, Joint Secretary of Coimbatore District Chess Association, Mr. Vinod Kumar M, Treasurer of Coimbatore District Chess Association.
In Round 2, Mrs. Kaayalvizhi Mani, President of Veer Chess Academy, was the guest. Round 3 welcomed Mrs. Narmadha Varunkumar, Co-founder of Soilfit, while Round 4 featured Mr. Balasubramaniam, Auditor and Secretary of the Veteran Chess Association.
For Round 5, the listed guest was Mrs. Ulageshwari, Head of the English Department at Velammal Bothu Campus, Theni. Round 6 featured Mrs. Revathi, M.Sc. Biotechnology, and Mrs. Rashmi Priya, Solution Analyst at TCS. Mr. Sathya, General Manager (Administration) at KCT, was listed for Round 7, Mr. Mohammed Yousuff, Joint Secretary of Coimbatore District Chess Association for Round 8 and Mr. Varun Kumar, Managing Director of Soilfit, for Round 9.
