Nithin Babu triumphs at 23rd RCC Classical Cup Rating Open 2025

Nithin Babu and Mandar Pradip Lad scored 8/9 each at 23rd RCC Classical Cup Rating Open 2025. Nithin Babu won the tournament on tie-breaks, despite losing the last round to the eventual runner-up, Mandar. Dinesh Kumar Jaganathan edged past six more players on tie-breaks to finish third scoring 7.5/9. The total cash prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹35000 and ₹25000 along with a trophy each. The six-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by  Rao's Chess Corner at Sharada Vidyalaya Kodialbail in Mangaluru, Karnataka from 25th to 30th September 2025. Shahil Dey superb at 4th Check N Mate Rapid Rating Open 2025

IM Shahil Dey scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Check N Mate Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Five players - Sham R, IM Senthil Maran K, FM Apoorv Kamble, Yeshas H and Yash Mishra scored 8/9 each. They were placed second to sixth respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹400000. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Check N Mate at Lotus Convention Centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka on 21st September 2025. This is Shahil's third rating tournament triumph of the year.

Balkishan A wins First Move Rating Open 2025

Balkishan A, Dinesh Kumar Jaganathan and IM Md. Imran scored 8/9 each at First Move Rating Open 2025. Balkishan won the tournament due to better tie-break score. Dinesh and Imran were placed second and third respectively. Only Balkishan remained undefeated among them. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500001. The top three prizes were ₹60001, ₹35000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each. The five-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by First Move Chess Academy at BSS Vidyodaya in Mysuru, Karnataka from 20th to 24th September 2025. Garry Kasparov wins Clutch Chess Legends 2025 by 13-11

Garry Kasparov won Clutch Chess Legends 2025 by 13-11. The final day of the match started with a draw. Kasparov won the second Rapid game after Vishy Anand made an incorrect rook trade offer in the endgame. 'The Lightning Kid' bounced back with two wins in the Blitz game to finish the event on a winning note and reduce the gap. Kasparov won US$ 70000 + bonus, Anand $50000 + $13000 bonus. Starting position of the final day was #294. The loss in the final Rapid game of the event, abandoned Anand's chances of winning the match. The ninth edition is offering a total prize fund of Turkish Lira 905000, an increase of 33.77% from previous edition. The prize fund in Category A is 617500, an increase of 34.09% from the eighth edition. The top three prizes are 150000, 110000 and 90000 along with a medal each. A total of 5 GMs, 4 IMs, a WGM and a WIM have registered from eleven countries across the world. Entry fee is Turkish Lira 500. Clutch Chess Legends 2025 G5-8: Kasparov increases his lead against Anand 8.5-3.5

Garry Kasparov extended his lead to 8.5-3.5 after Day 2 of Clutch Chess Legends 2025. Vishy Anand had a rough start as he lost on time in a better position in Game 5. The next Rapid game ended in a draw. Kasparov won the first Blitz game of the day in just 18 moves after his opponent made a one-move tactical blunder. In the next Blitz game, Kasparov repeated in a better position to keep his lead. Final day games have 3 points each, so Anand still has chances to win the clash. Clutch Chess Legends 2025 G1-4: Kasparov scores the first win

Garry Kasparov scored the first win on Day 1 at Clutch Chess Legends 2025. It was Vishy Anand who had the opportunity to win the first game. The second game was a relatively tame draw. The third game which was also the first 5'+3" Blitz, seemed to be heading towards a draw. However, it was not an easy one. The rook and many pawns' endgame was a complex one. Anand traded the rooks at an incorrect time, which resulted in his opponent having a decisive advantage. In the fourth game of the day, Anand got material in the game. Samyak Dharewa wins 2nd Sansad Cup Chhindwara Rapid Rating Open 2025

FM Samyak Dharewa and Kartavya Anadkat scored an unbeaten 8/9 each at 2nd Sansad Cup Chhindwara Rapid Rating Open 2025. Samyak became champion on tie-breaks, Kartavya secured second place. Five players - Rudra Mahendra Dhole, FM Vaibhav Jayant Raut, Abhay Bandewar, Sumit Sikka and CM Aishwin Daniel scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed third to seventh respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹25501, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by District Chess & Sports Welfare Association Chhindwara at New Punjab Lawn in Chhindwara, Rajasthan on 13th and 14th September 2025. This is Samyak's fourth overall, first rating tournament triumph of the year.

Anand and Kasparov to battle at Clutch Chess Legends 2025, a Rapid and Blitz Chess960 12-game match

Vishy Anand and Garry Kasparov will play a dozen Chess960 games in Rapid and Blitz format at Clutch Chess Legends. On day 1, each win is worth 1 point and $1000, for day 2, each win is worth 2 points and $2000, a win on day 3 will fetch 3 points and $3000. Total prize fund is US$ 144000. Winner will get $70000 and runner-up $50000. There will be an additional $24000. In case of a draw, the prize from that game will roll over to game 11 and 12, making the stakes grow larger in the final games. A common mistake, which is often done, is endgame positions are considered simple. The reality is far from it. Pieces get fewer in the endgame, yet the options increase by a lot. FM Anirudhha Potawad scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 3rd The Chembur Gymkhana Rapid Rating Open 2025. This is the third consecutive year he has won this tournament with the same score. In the last two triumphs including this, he finished a half point ahead of the rest. Five players - FM Vedant Nagarkatte, IM Srijit Paul, IM Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi, FM Gaurang Bagwe and Arjun Thakur scored 8/9 each. They were placed second to sixth respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹20000 + trophy, ₹10000 and ₹8000 each. Jaffna District Chess Association invites you to 3rd Jaffna International Chess Championship 2025. The third edition is offering a first prize of LKR 200000 and a total prize fund of LKR 2.4 Million. A total of 150 individual prizes are up for grabs. Entry is FREE for GM, IM, WGM, WIM, FM, WFMs and players rated above 2000. Travel grant is offered to GM, IM, WGM, WIMs. Apart from a Classical tournament, there is a Blitz tournament on 4th December 2025. The winner of the first two editions were IM Anup Deshmukh and IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh. Dr. Prajwal P Shet won the Blitz Rating Open last year. How Sandip Upadhyay is creating chess champions in rural Gujarat

Sandip Upadhyay, a teacher at Ratusinh na Muvada Government School in Mahisagar District, Gujarat, has taught chess to over a hundred students and created six rated chess players, all through his own effort and resources. Yet, very few know his story. His idea was simple: teach his students chess because he knew it. But that simple thought sparked something extraordinary. Today, it has transformed the entire school. His students dominate nearly every tournament they enter, and six of his students are now supported by the state government. After seeing their dedication, we organized a chess camp at their school on 9th–10th September to help them improve and give them an extra push. Darshan Choudhury and Advaith Nichenametla V (IRL) scored an unbeaten 4.5/5 each at City of Dublin Major (1600-1950) Rating 2025. Darshan became champion due to better tie-break scores, Advaith had to settle for second place. Anastasiya Kelbas (UKR), Pierre Rerot (IRL) and Lorcan Heron (IRL) scored 4/5 each. They were placed third, fourth and fifth respectively. The total prize fund was €3000. The top three prizes were €575, €400 and €300 in Masters, for Major they were €350, €250 and €150. The three-day five round Major (1600-1950) Rating tournament was organized by Dave Grant and the Knights of Éanna Chess Club at Colaiste Eanna in Rathfarnaham, Ireland from 5th to 7th September 2025. This is Darshan's first rating tournament triumph of his career.
