The 3rd edition of the Silver Jubilee Queenstar Open International Rating Chess Championship 2025 starts from 13th August
The 3rd edition of the Silver Jubilee Queenstar Open International Rating Chess Championship 2025 is back. It will take place from 13th August to 17th August in Gampaha, Sri Lanka. It boasts a total prize fund of LKR 2.5 million (approx. Rs. 7,13,645). There is no entry fee for FIDE-titled players. However, there are special conditions for foreign players rated higher than 2400. The event will feature both Classical and Blitz sections. The Blitz Champion will receive Rs. 60,000, while the Female Blitz Champion will be awarded Rs. 25,000. In the Classical section, the overall winner will take home Rs. 2,50,000, and the Female Champion will receive Rs. 1,00,000. Check out the article to learn how you can participate. Queenstar Open 2025 3rd Edition is back!
We have some exciting news for all the chess players! The 3rd edition of the Silver Jubilee Queenstar Open International Rating Chess Championship 2025 is here. The 2nd edition, held in 2024, saw a dominant performance by Indian players. Nikhil M emerged as the champion, followed by Indrajeet Mahindrakar as the first runner-up and GM Swapnil Dhopade in third place. With over 150 participants battling it out, the event was a huge success and received great feedback from players.
After seeing a good response for the previous two editions, the organizers are back with bigger prizes for the third edition. It will start from 13th August to 17th August in Gampaha, Sri Lanka. This will be an exciting opportunity for you to face off against strong players in an exciting event.

How to register?
There are two main events: the Queenstar Open Rated Classic Event and the Queenstar Open Rated Blitz Event.
For the Classic Event:
Rating above 2000: Free entry!
Rating less than 2000: Rs. 6,000
All Unrated Players: Rs. 6,500
There is no entry fee for FIDE-titled players
For the Blitz Event:
Rating above 2000: Free entry!
Rating less than 2000: Rs. 2,500 (All FIDE titled players are free)
All Unrated Players: Rs. 2,500
There is no entry fee for FIDE-titled players

Accommodation and Travel
For international players with an Elo more than 2400, accommodation with Full Board facilities will be provided on a double-sharing basis. This facility will be available for a limited number of players with a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to contact the organizing committee for details. GM, WGM, IM, WIM having more than 2400 Elo (2100 for women) will be given a travel grant of $100 (Rs. 35,000).
What are the prizes?
In the Blitz event, the winner will take home a Trophy, a Medal, and Rs. 60,000! There’s also a separate prize category for female players, where the Female Champion will receive Rs. 25,000. That’s not all; there are prizes lined up for rated, unrated, and age group players too!
In the Classical event, the winner will get a whopping Rs. 2,50,000 along with the trophy and medal. The Female Champion will win Rs. 1,00,000. Just like in the Blitz event, the Classical tournament will have prizes for the rated, unrated, and age group-wise categories. There will be two more special prizes for the three best players from the Gampaha district and Queenstar Chess Academy.
