We have exciting news to share! ChessBase India won the inaugural Daniel Naroditsky Best Creator Award at the first-ever FIDE Excellence Awards!
The FIDE Excellence Awards are being held for the very first time this year. They launched in June to recognise achievements and contributions across the chess world. There are 11 categories, covering everything from players and tournaments to teams, initiatives and creators.
FIDE invited people to nominate creators whose work had made an impact during the 2024–2026 Olympiad cycle. 10 creators were shortlisted and ChessBase India was one of them.
And now, we are incredibly happy to say that ChessBase India has won the award!
There is another reason why this particular award feels even more special.
The Best Creator Award is named after Daniel Naroditsky. Danya had a wonderful way of making chess accessible, entertaining and exciting for everyone. His love for the game came through in everything he did. FIDE created the award in his name to recognise his contribution as a player, educator, commentator and content creator, and the way he brought people closer to chess.
We were fortunate to have Danya as part of our Grandmaster Chess series, where he joined us as the trainer for Episode 19. His understanding of the game and humour made the episode very memorable.
We are happy to share that episode again here:
To receive an award carrying his name is something we will always be grateful for!
For years, we have been telling stories from the world of chess. We have followed players at tournaments, spoken to parents, celebrated young talents, shared behind-the-scenes moments, contributed in ways we can, and tried to bring you closer to chess and bring chess closer to you!
It has been years since we published our first article and video. It is fun to look back at those early days and see where this journey began. Our first article on ChessBase India was published in September 2015, covering the World Cup. A few months later, in December 2015, we published our first video, featuring a young Nihal analysing a game.
This has been quite a journey! Thank you to everyone who has read our stories, watched our videos, followed our work, shared our posts, spoken to us at tournaments and supported ChessBase India over the years.
