UTRGV perfect at Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship 2025, Harshit Raja second in Blitz

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Team A won Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship 2025. The winning team scored a perfect 5.5/6. University of Texas at Dallas Team B secured second place, scoring 5/6. GM Koustav Chatterjee contributed scored 1.5/4. Saint Louis University Team A and Webster University Team A scored 4.5/6 each. They secured third and fourth place respectively according to tie-breaks. GM Harsha Bharathakoti scored an unbeaten 5/6. The top four teams have qualified to the President's Cup. Koustav and Harsha's teams qualify to the President's Cup

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has won President's Cup three times - 2018, 2019 and 2021. They will be aiming for their fourth title this April. Webster University Team B, an all-women team scored an impressive 4/6, finished 11th overall and top women team. The team comprised of four players including two Indians - IM Anna Sargsyan, WGM Annamaria Marjanovic, WIM Mounika Akshaya Bommini and WFM V Toshali.

Blitz Open runner-up - GM Harshit Raja 5/6

A total of 189 players including 30 GMs, 22 IMs, 2 WGMs and 8 WIMs represented 44 teams all across the USA and Canada in the Open section. The four-day six round Swiss League Rating team tournament was held at Hilton Charlotte University Place in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA from 2nd to 5th January 2024. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
