Vantika Agrawal carries the Chess Olympiad Torch from Taj Mahal to Varanasi with Tejas Bakre

The 21st Woman Grandmaster of India, Vantika Agrawal received the Chess Olympiad Torch from India's 11th GM Tejas Bakre in front of the Taj Mahal at Agra. They both brought the Torch to Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. Five-time World Champion Vishy Anand arrived at Lucknow Vidhan Sabha. On the ninth day, Vantika carried the Torch to Allahabad Museum, Prayagraj and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi. Vantika has won several Silver medals at Asian Youth events. Last year in August she earned her WGM title. She also won the National Women Online championship for the very first time in 2021, after winning FIDE Binance Business Schools Super Cup in the previous month. Photo: AICF

On Sunday 25th June 2022, Mayor of Agra, Naveen Jain received the Chess Olympiad Torch from GM Tejas Bakre and handed it over to WGM Vantika Agrawal in front of the Taj Mahal iin presence of Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, AICF President.

The next stop was the famous Green Park Stadium at Kanpur. The Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Satish Mahana received the torch from WGM Vantika Agrawal and handed it over to GM Tejas Bakre. Dr Sanjay Kapoor, President AICF, was also present there.

The final location on the eighth day was, Vidhan Sabha Lucknow. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath received the Chess Olympiad Torch and handed it over to the five-time world champion Vishy Anand. The function was attended by Deputy Chief Minister, Brajesh Pathak, Sports Minister, Girish Chandra Yadav, Agricultural Minister, Dinesh Pratap Singh and other ministers and officials of Government of Uttar Pradesh along with the AICF President, Dr Sanjay Kapoor.

The Chess Olympiad Torch visited Allahabad Museum on the ninth day, Monday 27th June 2022. Mr. Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Minister of Industrial Development of Uttar Pradesh, received the Torch from India's 21st Woman Grandmaster Vantika Agrawal and handed it over to the country's 11th GM Tejas Bakre in presence of Mrs. Abhilasha Gupta, Mayor of Prayagraj, Mr. Mahesh Chaturvedi, Additional Advocate General, Mr. Sanjy Kumar Khatri, IAS District Magistrate, Mr. Sanjay Goyal, IAS Commissioner, Mr. Sipu Giri, IAS Chief Development Officer and Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, President AICF.
