Srinath Rao S V wins Jönköping Chess Festival 2024

IM Srinath Rao S V scored 7.5/9 to win Jönköping Chess Festival 2024 - Standard. FM Emerik Vapenstad Roulet-Dubonnet (NOR) also scored 7.5/9. The Norwegian was placed second according to tie-breaks. IM Vilka Sipila (FIN) scored sole 7/9 to finish third. Only Emerik remained undefeated among the top three. The top three prizes were SEK 7000 + trophy, 5000 and 3000 along with a medal each. The eight-day nine-round tournament was organized by FT NA Saadah Ahmad and Jordanian Swedish Chess Academy at Quality Hotel Match in Jönköping, Sweden from 25th July to 1st August 2024 This was Srinath's fourth overall, third individual rating tournament triumph of the year. Srinath's fourth triumph of the year

The Jönköping Chess Festival 2024 witnessed the participation of a combined total 206, 54 in Classical, 66 in Blitz, 67 in Rapid and 19 in Amateur. Africa and Egypt no.1 GM Bassem Amin won the Rapid event 6.5/7 and finished second in Blitz 9/11. IM Ludvig Carlsson (SWE) became champion 9.5/11 in Blitz.

The winners were crowned by FT Saadah Ahmad, the Chief Organiser and Deputy Chief Arbiter - Abdel Rahman Sadeh (JOR). The festival was hosted by Quality Match Hotel in Jönköping, Sweden.

A total of 54 players including a GM, five IMs, a WGM and a WIM took part from 11 countries across the world in this eight-day nine-round Swiss League Classical Rating Open tournament. It was organized by FT NA Saadah Ahmad and Jordanian Swedish Chess Academy at Quality Hotel Match in Jönköping, Sweden from 25th July to 1st August 2024. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
