Satendra Singh wins 1st The Rooky International Open 2023 Challenger

Satendra Singh and Wanawee Buranasing (THA) scored an unbeaten 6/7 each at 1st The Rooky International Open 2023 Challenger. Satendra won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Wanawee was placed second. Their fifth round battle against each other ended in a draw.Maksim M Smirnov and Sivakorn Sinpolai (THA) scored 5.5/7 each. They secured third and fourth place respectively. Satendra defeated Smirnov in the third round. The top three prizes in the Challengers section were THB 2000, 1500 and 1000 along with a trophy each. Satendra Singh and Wanawee Buranasing (THA) were the coleaders 5.5/6 heading into the final round. Top seed, Wanawee drew against second seeded Sivakorn Siriponlai (THA) and the third seeded, Satendra was held to a draw by Cholapat Chongstitwattana (THA). Thus, Satendra became champion and Wanawee second. Maksim Smirnov defeated Kanuengnit Chiadthaisong (THA) to finish third.

A total of 44 players took part in the Challengers (Below 1650) section from eight countries across the world in this four-day seven round Rating tournament. It was organized by Wacharaphol Jongatireklap at Away Bangkok Riverside Kene Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand from 20th to 23rd October 2023. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
