Ritviz Parab dominates 3rd Durga Motors Rapid Rating Open 2024
IM Ritviz Parab scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 3rd Durga Motors Rapid Rating Open 2024. IM Nitish Belurkar and Mandar Pradip Lad scored 8/9 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. Ritviz defeated the eventual runner-up, Nitish in the seventh round. The total prize fund was ₹151000. The top three prizes were ₹40000, ₹20000 and ₹12000 along with a trophy each. The two-day nine-round Swiss league rapid rating tournament was organized by Rotary Club of Porvorim at Dr. K B Hedgewar High School in Bambolim, Goa on 14th and 15th December. Ritviz wins consecutive editions
Earlier this year, IM Ritviz Parab won the second edition of this tournament in February. Once again he scored the exact same points 8.5/9 and finished clear first. Devesh Anand Naik and IM Ritviz Parab were the coleaders 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Ritviz defeated Abhishek Patil and Nitish won against Devesh. Ritviz won the tournament, Nitish second. Mandar Pradip Lad scored a full point against Saeeja Gunesh Desai to finish third.
Prizes were distributed by Chief Guest - Rotarian Ashok Sapra, sponsor and owner of Durga Motors, in presence of Wilson Cruz, Sudhakar Patgar, Rajesh Mehrotra, Umesh Naik, Tournament Director, Chief Arbiter - IAArvind Mhamal, Dr. Pramod Dubale, Mrs. Archan Sawant and Mr. Tukaram Shetye.

A total of 306 players including two IMs took part from various parts of India and two from New Zealand. The tournament was organized by Rotary Club of Porvorim at Dr. K B Hedgewar School in Bambolim, Goa on 14th and 15th December 2024. The nine-round Swiss league Rapid Rating tournament had a time control of 20 minutes + 10 seconds increment from move no.1.
