Rayna Ajay Patel wins Bronze at World School Under-7 Girls Championship 2023
Rayna Ajay Patel scored 7/9 to secure the Bronze medal for India at the World School Under-7 Girls Chess Championship 2023. She suffered only two losses. They were against the Gold and Silver medal winners - Tsogtgerel Gerelt-Oyu (MGL) and Reana Kinzyabulatova respectively. Out of the eight participating Indians, Rayna became the sole Indian to clinch a medal at this event. She won the Ahmedabad District and Gujarat State Under-7 Girls Championship a month before. Sole medal winner for India
At the tender age of six years, Rayna Ajay Patel has already played 128 games in 24 tournaments within the span of 11 months. She achieved the most success within the last one month. First she won the Ahmedabad District Under-7 Girls then Gujarat State Under-7 Girls and now a Bronze medal at World School Under-7 Girls Championship.
A total 32 players participated from 16 countries across the world in the Under-7 Girls category. The tournament was organized by the local chess club “Ippotis,” the South Aegean Region, and Municipality of Rhodes (Municipal Organization of Culture and Sports of Rhodes) at Rodos Palace in Rhodes, Greece from 14th to 22nd April 2023. The time control for the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
