Salill Kumar D and Chiranjit Manna were the coleaders 7/8 heading into the final round. They drew their game against each other. Pradeep Tiwari defeated Himanshu Moudgil to become the champion. Salil and Chiranjit were placed second and third respectively. 11-year-old Surya scored 7/9 to finish fourth. He is the youngest top ten finisher of the event.
A total of 147 players took part from various parts of the country in this five-day nine round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Andaman Nicobar Chess Association at Hotel TSG Grand in Port Blair, Andaman and Islands from 14th to 18th August 2024. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
