Manuel triumphs in 5th Pampilhosa da Serra and Portuguese Super Cup

GM Manuel Perez Candelário scored an unbeaten 8.0/9 to win 5th Pampilhosa da Serra International Open which is the most important Rapid tournament in Portugal. GM Jaime Latasa Santos also finished with the same score, however due to lower tie-break score, he was declared the runner-up. GM Karen Grigoryan scored 7.5/9 to finish at third position. 114 players participated from 11 different countries including 10 GMs in this one-day open rapid tournament held on 19th October 2019 at Villa Pampilhosa Hotel in Portugal. Manuel domination at Pampilhosa

GM Manuel Perez Candelário (ESP, 2451) scored an unbeaten 8.0/9 to win 5th Pampilhosa da Serra International Open, which is the most important Rapid tournament in Portugal. GM Jaime Latasa Santos (ESP, 2587) also scored an unbeaten 8.0/9, he was placed second according to the tie-break score. GM Karen Grigoryan (ARM, 2667) scored 7.5/9 to secured third position.

The most important rapid tournament of the country

Considered the most important rapid chess tournament in the country, the chess tournament organized with the support of the Municipality of Pampilhosa da Serra and the collaboration of the Portuguese Chess Federation completed this recognition as it was held in the excellent facilities of Villa Pampilhosa Hotel and has offered the participants and their companions good conditions by providing juice, water, coffee, tea and cakes throughout the tournament.

 

With good pecuniary conditions covering a huge range of participants, the tournament reached a good level due to the quality of the participants, but not only those who had good conditions, since the Municipality of Pampilhosa da Serra, offered all the companions the opportunity to enjoy a sightseeing tour, making known some of the magnificent places of nature from the many surroundings of this vast region. At the end of the closing ceremony, attended by the Vice-President of the Municipality of Pampilhosa da Serra, Dr. Jorge Custódio, he also toasted everyone present with a drink and a snack.

 

At the 5th Pampilhosa da Serra International Chess Open, 114 players participated, including 10 Grandmasters and 11 different countries. In addition to the many participants, there were several GMs present who expressed interest in participating in the next edition.

AXAT de Montemor-o-Novo are the Portuguese Super Cup

On Sunday October 20, Municipal Market received an exhibition of classic cars, witnessed a battle of the Portuguese Super Cup between the clubs of the Associação Académica de Coimbra and AXAT de Montemor-o-Novo. The Montemor team ended up winning the match and adding this title to the National Champion and Portuguese Cup Winner.
