Kingdom of Chess FIDE Rating – Rishaan Stuns Shahil

The beautiful city of Udaipur, Rajasthan, a popular tourist destination known as the "City of Lakes," is currently witnessing a grand event. The inaugural Kingdom of Chess FIDE Rating Tournament began here yesterday, attracting a total of 334 players from across the country. Among the participants are five International Masters and 11 titled players in total. The tournament was inaugurated yesterday by Udaipur’s Member of Parliament, Mananlal Rawat. After the first two rounds, most of the top-seeded players managed to secure victories, but there were a few surprises. On board 6, Rishaan Jain stunned International Master Shahil Dey, and on board 4, FIDE Master Arjun Kataria was held to a draw by Pawan Sain. Kingdom of Chess FIDE Rating Tournament Begins in Udaipur: 334 Players Participating
High-level classical FIDE rating tournaments have played a special role in the development of Indian chess. There was a time when many prestigious classical FIDE rating tournaments were held across the country. However, in recent years, there has been a sudden surge in the popularity of rapid and blitz FIDE rating tournaments.
However, once again, we are witnessing the organization of several classical rating tournaments. In this sequence, Udaipur, Rajasthan, is currently hosting the inaugural Kingdom of Chess FIDE Rating Tournament.After two rounds, a total of 68 players, including Mayank, Ameya, Shubhayan, and Sanket, have won both of their matches and advanced to the third round.
The biggest upset of the second round was caused by 10-year-old Rishaan Jain from Rajasthan, who surprised everyone by holding Assam's International Master Shahil Dey to a draw. Rishaan, a student of Kingdom of Chess with a FIDE rating of 1649, displayed remarkable control throughout the game.
The second surprising result came on board four, where FIDE Master Arun Kataria (2384) was held to a draw by Pawan Sain (1657).
The top-seeded player of the tournament, Mayank Chakraborty (2452) from Assam, secured his second consecutive victory with the white pieces. He defeated Yitish from Haryana to earn his second point.
Goa's International Master and second seed, Ameya Audi (2413), also secured his second consecutive victory. He defeated Pragadesh P. from Tamil Nadu.
On board number 3, Shubhayan Kundu (2403) from Railways also secured his second victory by defeating Shoham Haryani.
The current National Under-11 Champion, Madhvendra Pratap Sharma (2454) from Madhya Pradesh, secured his second victory by defeating Adhrit Chatterjee from Bengal.
