FM John Veny Akkarakaran, FM Pranav K P and Genivan Genkeswaran (MAS) scored an unbeaten 7.5/8 each at YMCA 4th Chessmii Rapid Rating Open 2024. The top seed, John won the tournament on tie-breaks, Pranav and Genivan secured second and third place respectively. The total prize fund was ₹500000 and there were 201 prizes. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. The one-day rapid rating tournament was organized by YMCA Ernakulam Sub Region and Chessmii.com at YMCA Hall, Thottumugham in Ernakulam, Kerala on 17th November 2024. FM John Veny Akkarakaran, FM Pranav K P and Genivan Genkeswaran (MAS) were the three leaders 6.5/7, heading into the final round. Alex Thomas K lost to John, thus the top seed, John became champion. Pranav defeated FM Anilkumar O T to finish second. Aadinath Harilal lost to Genivan, the latter finished third. WFM Kalyani Sirin became the sole female finisher among top ten. She scored an unbeaten 7/8 to claim fifth place.

A total of 265 players took part from various parts of the country, two from Malaysia and one from Morocco in this one-day eight round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by YMCA Ernakulam Sub Region and Chessmii.com at YMCA Hall, Thottumugham, Aluva in Ernakulam, Kerala on 17th November 2024. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
