Isha Sharma wins 2nd Felix Sasomi Under 2200 Rating Tournament 2024

WIM Isha Sharma scored 8/9 to win 2nd Felix Sasomi Under 2200 Rating Tournament 2024. She finished a half point ahead of the competition. After a 4/4 start, Isha lost her fifth round game against 11-year-old Andrei Negrean (ROU). However, Isha bounced back by winning the next four games to become a clear champion. FM Csaba Zoltan Varga (ROU) secured second place 7.5/9, Andrei third, according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was €14000. The top three prizes were €2400 + cup, €1600 and €1200 each respectively. It is not everyday we get to witness a woman winning an open/rating restricted tournament. Isha's first rating tournament triumph of the year

The Asian Junior 2017 Girls Rapid Gold medalist, WIM Isha Sharma has won a few rapid open tournaments. However, this was the first time she won an Under-2200 Classical rating tournament. She won it by having two winning streaks of four games each.

The tournament hall at Hotel International in Baile Felix-Oradea, Romania

A total of 224 players including four IMs and two WIMs took part from 13 countries across the world. The five-day nine round Under 2200 Rating tournament was organized by CS A-K Rider’s Satu Mare, sponsored by Sasomi Srl Oradea at Hotel International in Baile Felix-Oradea, Romania from 14th to 18th February 2024. The time control of the event was 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
