Aravindh Chithambaram keeps climbing, becomes World no.21
The FIDE Rating list for February 2025 does not reflect a lot of change as Tata Steel Tournament was in progress. So, the list is unable to show the changes for Arjun Erigaisi, D Gukesh, R Praggnanandhaa, Divya Deshmukh and R Vaishali. However, two Indians gained significant places. Aravindh Chithambaram continues his climb to the top. He gained 2.9 Elo rating points to move to 2729 and World no.21. Among the Indian Women, WGM Rakshitta Ravi gained 44.6 Elo rating points to break into World top 100 among Women for the first time with a career high rating 2365. She is now World no.77 among Women. Six Indians in World top 25
February 2025 rating list only a couple of gains - GM Aravindh Chithambaram and WGM Rakshitta Ravi. March 2025 rating list will reflect a lot of changes which the current list could not show as Tata Steel 2025 concluded on 2nd February.
Women: Rakshitta Ravi breaks into World Top 100 for the first time
Four Indian women are now in top 18. They are - GM Koneru Humpy, World no.6, IM Divya Deshmukh, World no.15, GM Harika Dronavalli, World no. 16 and GM R Vaishali, World no.18 among women. Their ratings remained unchanged. WGM Rakshitta Ravi gained 44.6 Elo rating points at Rilton Cup 2024-25 to break into World Top 100 Women for the very first time with a career high rating of 2365. Currently, there are ten Indians among the top 100 women, same as last month.
Countries
India was no.2 in January 2025 FIDE Rating list in terms of average rating of top ten players, 12 Elo rating points behind the USA. February 2025 list for federations has not been updated yet.
