Augustin awesome at Anatoly Karpov Legacy Rating Open 2024

Augustin A scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Anatoly Karpov Legacy Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Nanda Kumar T S and Ahaz E U scored 8/9 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. Nanda also remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹60000, ₹45000 and ₹35000 along with a trophy each respectively. The six-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by International School of Chess Foundation and Russian House in Trivandrum from 28th March to 2nd April 2024 at Jimmy George Indoor Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Augustin's second tournament triumph in 2024

Augustin A and Yashwant B were the coleaders 7.5/8 heading into the final round. Four players were trailing him by a half point at 7/8 each. Augustin defeated Yashwant in the last round to become a clear champion. Nanda Kumar T S and Ahaz E U scored wins against Marthandan K U and Uma Maheswaran P respectively to secure second and third place respectively.

The prize distribution ceremony was a highlight of the event, with JCI National President JFS Rakhesh Sharma presenting awards to the deserving winners, recognizing their achievements and contributions to the game of chess.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Rajamanikyam, IAS, notable attendees included Ratheesh C Nair, the Honorary Director of the Russian Consulate, and Mr. Unnikrishnan M A, Managing Director of the International School of Chess and President of JCI Trivandrum Regals.

A total of 457 players took part from various states all over the country and one from the USA in this six-day nine round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by International School of Chess Foundation and Russian House in Trivandrum at Jimmy George Indoor Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from 28th March to 2nd April 2024. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
