Daksh Goyal clinches Blitz Rating Open with a 100% score
IM Soham Kamotra made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row in the Rapid event. IM Aradhya Garg was the only player trailing him by a half point at 7.5/8. Aradhya defeated Soham in the final round to become the champion. Arshpreet Singh lost to IM Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi who secured second place. CM Aarit Kapil defeated Harish Sharma to finish third. 9-year-old Aarit is the youngest top ten finisher of the event. WFM Shubhi Gupta is the sole female player to make it in top ten. She scored an impressive 8/9 to claim eighth place.
Both Daksh Goyal and IM Aaryan Varshney won eight consecutive games respectively in the Blitz tournament. They were a full point ahead of others, heading into the last round. Daksh defeated Aaryan to become a clear champion with a perfect score. Aaryan had to settle for second place. Garv Rai won against FM Namitbir Singh Walia to finish third.
A total of 637 players including six IMs took part from all over the country and one from Germany, USA and Zimbabwe each. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Sara Foundation at Thyagraj Stadium in New Delhi on 24th and 25th May 2025. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
