The top 16 teams of the world are taking part in the 9th IBCA World Team Chess Championship for the Blind and Visually Impaired 2022. India started as the eighth seed in the Red group of the Group stage. Top two finishers of the round-robin group stage will advance to the Semifinals.

Soundarya Kumar Pradhan (1782) and Swapanil Shah (1652) scored wins against Zarko Selkovski (MKD, 1967) and K Sande Atanasov (MKD, 1853) respectively. K Marimuthu (1626) drew with Zoran Kostadinoski (MKD, 1913). Kishan Gangolli (2092) suffered a loss against Mile Capanov (MKD, 1951).
India will face the fifth seeded Italy in Round 2. The board order remains unchanged as Somender B L is rested.
The round-robin group stage will take place from 28th June to 4th July 2022. Every day a single round game is played with a time control of 2 hours each from 3 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. IST).
