After the thrill of the Global Chess League directly followed by the Chess Olympiad, where all of the top Indian Chess players - actually the top players of the World, were seen in action for the entire month of September, now comes October. Naturally, the question comes - where will they play next? In this article, we try to share updates of some of the top Indian players. We will try and keep this article updated!
1. R. Praggnanandhaa:

After playing for a month straight at the Saint Louis Chess Club in August 2026 - starting from the St. Louis Rapid and Blitz, followed by the Sinquefield Cup and the Grand Chess Tour Finals, Pragg understandably took rest at the Global Chess League. He came back in action at the Chess Olympiad, winning Bronze medal on the top board!
The next event where Praggnanandhaa will be seen in action - as far we know - is the Clutch Chess Championship at St. Louis Chess Club from 27th-29th October at the St. Louis Chess Club. Pragg will play alongside Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, and the World Championship Challenger Javokhir Sindarov - it will be a Rapid double round-robin event. Pragg will play next at the Total Chess World Championship 2026 from 10th-20th November at Budapest, where almost all of the World's best players will be in action!
2. Arjun Erigaisi:

Arjun Erigaisi played for the entire month of September - he played the Global Chess League, directly followed by the Chess Olympiad. Arjun will be seen in action next at the European Chess Club Cup 2026 - he will play for Team Alkaloid! Arjun will be taking on Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Anish Giri, Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus to name a few. After that, Arjun will play the Total Chess World Championship!
3. Nihal Sarin:

Nihal Sarin also played at the Global Chess League followed by the Chess Olympiad. Up next for Nihal is playing the European Chess Club Cup, for the Novy Bor Chess Club. His future events after this are yet to be revealed!
4. D Gukesh:

The World Champion is not playing at the European Chess Club Cup, and neither is he playing at the Total Chess World Championship. As per information so far, the next event for Gukesh is going to be the World Chess Championship match against Javokhir Sindarov from 24th November-12th December.
5. Viswanathan Anand:

The 5-time World Champion and new FIDE Deputy President Vishy Anand, according to current information, is not playing any chess tournaments till the end of the year. His last event for this year is the Global Chess League 2026!
6. Vidit Gujrathi:

After playing the Global Chess League followed by the Chess Olympiad, Vidit Gujrathi is also not reportedly playing any events till the end of the year. Perhaps he will commentating with Anish Giri at the World Chess Championship match?

7.Koneru Humpy:

Koneru Humpy played at the Global Chess League, and represented India on Board 1 at the FIDE Women's Chess Olympiad 2026. Humpy will be seen in action next at the European Women's Chess Club Championship - representing Team Cercle d'Echecs de Monte-Carlo.
8. Divya Deshmukh:

Divya made her debut at the Global Chess League, and represented India on Board 1 at the FIDE Women's Chess Olympiad 2026. As per the news so far, Divya's future events for the year are not known yet.
9. Vaishali Rameshbabu:

Vaishali skipped the Global Chess League and played at the Chess Olympiad for Team India. Vaishali's next event will be the Total Chess World Championship from 10th November-20th November!
10. Harika Dronavalli:

After playing the Global Chess League, Harika is now back in action - she is playing right now at the Fagernes International Autumn GM Group 2026! After 3 rounds of play, she is on 2.5/3 points.
