Uzbekistan's Olympiad gold medallists have received $200,000 each, a home and a car, along with state honours. The country's para-chess bronze medallists and coaches were also recognised.

A golden welcome

Winning Olympiad gold on home soil is special. Uzbekistan has made the celebrations special too! President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met the chess and para-chess teams, their families and coaches after their success in Samarkand.

Each member of the gold-winning Open team - Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Javokhir Sindarov, Nodirbek Yakubboev, Shamsiddin Vokhidov and Mukhiddin Madaminov - received $200,000, a home and a car. According to Gazeta, the homes are cottages and the cars are Volkswagen Teramont Pro models.

State honours for the champions

The rewards went beyond money, homes and cars. A presidential decree also recognised the players with these state honours:

- Javokhir Sindarov: the "Fidokorona xizmatlari uchun" Order.

- Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Nodirbek Yakubboev and Shamsiddin Vokhidov: "Honored Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan".

- Mukhiddin Madaminov: "O'zbekiston iftixori" ("Pride of Uzbekistan").

Recognition for the para team and coaches

The bronze-winning para-chess team was celebrated too. Ahadkhon Kimsanboev, Marsel Shayusupov, Sirojiddin Zaynidinov, Sardorbek Mamarajabov and Selbi Kakishova each received $50,000, a home and a car. Gazeta identifies their cars as Volkswagen Passat Pro models. All five were awarded the "Mardlik" ("Courage") Order.

Coaches Rustam Kasimdzhanov and Samandar Shermuhammadov each received a car and the title "Honored Sports Coach of the Republic of Uzbekistan". The official announcement also states cash rewards of $50,000 for each of the gold team's coaches and $12,500 for each of the para team's coaches.
