Today, 4 October 2026, brings happy news for world no. 5 Nodirbek Abdusattorov: he is engaged to Sevinch Mavlonova. This comes exactly a week after Uzbekistan won the Open gold medal at the Chess Olympiad in Samarkand on 27 September.
UzChess shared their photograph today with the Uzbek caption "Yoshlar baxtli bo'lsin!", meaning "May the young couple be happy!"

Sevinch Mavlonova is a student at New Uzbekistan University. She has won the Yulduz Tech award for "Best Female Cybersecurity Specialist" and received the Zulfiya State Prize in 2026. She founded TEDxNewUU at the university.
The couple plan to get married in March 2027.
