Manisha Mohite is a journalist who has covered Indian chess for over 3 decades now and contributed to the sport immensely. All of Vishy Anand's World Championship Matches and much more. It is wonderful to see that she has now added in her repertoire video interviews as well.
"The idea of this interview was by the editor in chief of Decaan Herald. Interestingly it was supposed to be a 15 minute talk but Sindarov got involved and continued to talk despite his manager asking him to wind up. From my angle, though I was a bit awkward, it came through in the interview that chess bonded us despite our ages and professions," says Manisha.
How did Manisha find Javokhir Sindarov's personality? "Sindarov does exhibit a mental toughness which is so very essential from obvious chess talent. He did mention his ultimate goal is to be world number one. Long back when I interviewed Karpov, he said that once you become a World Champion, you have to demonstrate why you are one, else history won't be kind to you."
