10-year-old Aarit Kapil scores his 2nd IM norm in Serbia

Born in 2015, Aarit is just 10 years old. But recently at the Rudar XXXVA - GM Round Robin in Serbia Aarit managed to score his 2nd IM norm already! 🙂 He has also pumped up his live rating to 2320 Elo.

Aarit scored 6.0/9 and achieved his IM norm with one round to spare. He performed at an Elo of 2527, gaining 47 Elo points. But that is not all - Aarit also managed to win the tournament ahead of 3 GMs and 3 IMs - that is absolutely incredible.

On his way to IM norm Aarit beat GM Nikolov Momchil (2421), GM Radoslav Dimitrov (2489), and IM Kirill Klukin (2400). The field also had two Indian players Aarav Sarbalia and Aakash Dalvi. Aarit drew against both of them.

While Aarit has scored his second IM norm, he is in no mood to stop. He will be playing the next GM norm tournament Rudar GM 36 already from 8th of August 2026. We wish Aarit the best in scoring another IM norm and getting close to his IM title!
