Queen of Katwe and Daniel King for Mumbai

On 11th of October, the day of Dusshera, chess players from Mumbai will be treated to a double feast! ChessBase India has planned Queen of Katwe + Powerplay 23 and a meet with Daniel King! In the morning, all the players will meet at the R-city mall at 9 a.m. to watch the movie, this will be followed by learning Queen's Gambit Declined from the Power Play 23 and the cherry on top of the cake is the unique chance of having a chat with Daniel King through Skype at 2 p.m. IST. Don't miss out on this fun filled day! All are invited!

ChessBase India has planned the Queen of Katwe for the entire city of Mumbai on the 11th of October 2016. The movie will be seen at the R-city mall in Ghatkopar, Mumbai at 9 a.m.

The R-city is one of the biggest malls in Mumbai. You can find the exact address here on the google maps.

The Queen of Katwe is an inspirational story based on the life of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan chess prodigy from Katwe who becomes a Woman Candidate Master after her performances at World Chess Olympiads.

The show begins at 9 a.m. So it would be ideal to be present at the R-city mall at 8.45 a.m. The cost of the ticket is just Rs.100/-. You can either book your ticket in advance through book my show website or you can do it at the counter. Being a morning show we do not expect it to be house full.

The run-time of the movie is two hours and four minutes. Assuming the movie ends around 11.15 a.m. There will be lunch break from 11.15 to 12.15 p.m. At 12.30 p.m. everyone meets at my (IM Sagar Shah's) place in Rajawadi, Ghatkopar, and we begin with the Powerplay 23 DVD by Daniel King.

From 12.30 to 5 p.m. we will all watch this DVD by Daniel King. And now for the best part of the day! At 2 p.m. Daniel King has agreed to be present with all of us through Skype!

After watching his DVD for nearly four and a half hours, this will be a perfect opportunity for you to ask him questions, doubts or any queries that you will have regarding the Queen's Gambit Declined.

Daniel King is a live wire and interacting with such a knowledgable grandmaster is sure to motivate you. We enjoyed his company tremendously at the London Chess Classic 2015.

Dan wrote to us saying, " This is a mad idea! I accept the invitation! See you at 2 p.m. IST!"
