Prishita Claims her 6th National Title

This was Prishita's 6th national title, and one of the most special because she previously won U11 and U15 age-category nationals, but this time she won the Under-17 nationals at 15. Prishita led the tournament by a full point after 8 rounds but suffered a tough loss in the 9th round to Kirthika B; however, she recovered and scored 2 consecutive wins to win the national championship with a clear half-point lead.

Prishita was unbeaten till the 9th round, but even after losing her game, she won the final 2 games and also increased 23 rating points

A total of 81 female players took part in the national championship, including 1 WIM, 1 FM, 3 WFM, & 7 WCM.

Adhiraj defeats Madhvendra to claim his 1st National U -17 Title

Adhiraj Mitra from Jharkhand scored 9/11 points to win his 1st National Under-17 Title. It was a close contest between Adhiraj Mitra, Vedant Garg, and Haridev S. Going into the final round, Vedant Garg was leading the tournament by half a point, but he lost to Haridev S on the top board. On the second board, Adhiraj defeated Madhvendra Pratap Sharma to finish in 1st place with a better tiebreak score than Haridev, who also scored 9/11 points.

36th National U-17 Open Champion: Adhiraj Mitra (Jharkhand)

Adhiraj remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and also increased his rating by 28 points

Runner-up: Haridev S of Tamil Nadu

A total of 193 players, including 2 International Masters, 16 FIDE Masters, and 8 Candidate Masters, took part in the Open section of the national championship. The national championship was organised at the Kangra Fort, Jammu, from 28th September to 6th October 2026.
