The Complex Najdorf by Bologan for Rs.999/-

by ChessBase India - 08/04/2016

A week ago ChessBase came out with a DVD on the Najdorf Opening by Viktor Bologan. The Opening is rich and has been played by many great players in the past, most notably Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov who used the Najdorf as their main weapon against 1.e4. And the credentials of GM Victor Bologan (Elo:2654) are never in doubt. When the two combine, what you get is six and half a half hours of high class chess material. And if you are an Indian resident you can enjoy this DVD for just Rs.999/-. Check the article for more details.

When you go to the international ChessBase website shop, on the right you have the bestseller list, which is dynamic in nature. As on 7th of April 2016 this is how the bestseller list looks like.

On top of the list is the Complex Najdorf by Victor Bologan
When a world class player like Victor Bologan delves into the complexities of one of the richest openings that the game of chess has ever seen, you can be sure that it is high quality material.
The complex Najdorf by Victor Bologan is a complete repertoire for Black which has been released by ChessBase only a week ago
This is how Bologan describes the Najdorf Opening:
When choosing an opening repertoire, it is common to consider two types of variations. One is usually a solid opening, like 1...e5 against 1.e4, with plenty of strategical ideas and quiet paths of play. However, there are of course days when you want to play for a win with Black, when you want to bear down on your opponent’s position with a potentially crushing attack. The Najdorf is perfect for just such occasions – and it’s no coincidence that Garry Kasparov played it the most out of all the variations in the Sicilian – the opening served him well throughout his brilliant career. I myself have played it with both colours, but even I discover more to its endless depths every day! Strategy, combinations, attack and defence, sacrifices and marvellous manoeuvres – exciting chess is all about the Najdorf!
Highlights of the DVD:
  • Video running time: 6 hours 31 min (English)
  • With interactive training including video feedback
  • Extra: 50 Model games and full analysis of variations by GM Victor Bologan
  • Including CB 12 Reader

Just to give you an idea about how complex Najdorf is, here is a game by Viktor Bologan in which he indulges in crazy complications against Alexander Motylev and comes out on top.
