Monoskam Mitra wins 6th IS International Below 1700 Classical Rating 2026
Monoskam Mitra of West Bengal scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win the 6th IS International (Below 1700) Classical Rating 2026. 6 Players scored 7.5/9 to secure 2nd to 7th positions. Sankar Prasad Rao D and Prateek Kumar Behera got podium finishes because of their better tiebreak scores. The IS Chess Center organised the tournament at the JN Indoor Stadium, Cuttack, from 26th to 28th June 2026. The top 3 prizes were ₹25,000, ₹20,000, and ₹15,000 along with trophies. Monoskam Mitra won the 46th Hooghly District Chess Championship 2026 earlier this year. Here at Cuttack, Monoskam drew his last game against Sankar Prasad Rao D on the top board to finish in 1st place.
