आनंद के लिए यह रैंकिंग के लिहाज से अच्छी खबर नहीं है वह शीर्ष 10 में शामिल सबसे उम्रदराज खिलाड़ी है और फिलहाल क्लासिकल शतरंज से थोड़ी दूरी बनाए हुए है । उनके अलावा सिर्फ क्रामनिक ही 40 के उपर के खिलाड़ी है पर वह भी आनंद से 6 साल छोटे है

एक ओर बात शतरंज प्रेमियों के लिए रोमांचक हो सकती है और वो ये है की पहली बार 2800 का जादुई रेटिंग नंबर 7 खिलाड़ी एक साथ पार कर सकते है । वर्तमान में सिर्फ चार खिलाड़ी मौजूदा विश्व चैम्पियन कार्लसन 2832 अंक के साथ पहले , अमेरिका के वेसली सो 2812 अंको के साथ दूसरे और फेबियानों कारूआना 2807 अंको के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर है । पूर्व विश्व चैम्पियन रूस के क्रामनिक 2705 अंको के साथ चौंथे स्थान पर है । पर फ्रांस के लागरेव (2799),अर्मेनिया के अर्नोनियन (2792) और अजरबैजान के ममेद्यारोव (2792) अंको के साथ 2800 क्लब में दस्तक दे रहे है ।
ममेद्यारोव से मुझे 2012 में ऐरोफ़्लोट ओपन के दौरान मॉस्को में मिलने का मौका मिला था और बेहद विनम्र स्वभाव के ममेद्यारोव नें खेल से संबन्धित काफी बाते की थी । बड़े खिलाड़ी कुछ ऐसे ही होते है । शुभकामनाए ममेद्यारोव !।
