The Indian challenge is being led by GM Vidit Gujrathi who had previously won this tournament in 2014. Vidit won the tournament by scoring 6.0/9 points.

In the final round, Vidit drew against Polish GM Duda Jan-Krzysztof (2671) and shared the lead with Russian GM Artemiev Vladislav (2653). With better tie-break, Vidit was declared as the winner.
