
About the tournament
The inaugural edition of the tournament attracted an impressive 323 players from seven states. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. The event was organised by Masters Chess Academy in association with Holy Cross College, Nagercoil, under the aegis of the relevant chess bodies.
The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. D. V. Sundar, former FIDE Vice President, in the presence of Mr. Stephen Balasamy, Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, Rev. Sr. S. Sahaya Selvi, Principal, Holy Cross College, Nagercoil, Rev. Sr. M. Mary Gilda, Secretary, Holy Cross College, Nagercoil, and Mr. M. Ephrame, Director of Masters Chess Academy.




The organisers expressed their appreciation to Holy Cross College for providing the venue and supporting the conduct of the international FIDE-rated tournament.
Rev. Sr. S. Sahaya Selvi, Principal of Holy Cross College, Nagercoil, was the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony and distributed the prizes to the winners.

The successful completion of the first Masters Chess Academy Kanyakumari International FIDE Rated Open marks an important addition to the competitive chess calendar of the Kanyakumari region. With players travelling from seven states and a field of 323 participants, the tournament provided a strong platform for players from across India to compete in an internationally rated event.
