Arvind Iyer scored 8/9 points in the 1st Unicorn International Open Fide Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2026. Arvind Iyer, IM Srijit Paul, Indrajeet Mahindrakar, and Kamad Mishra scored 8/9 points to finish in 1st to 4th places, respectively, according to tiebreak scores. Unicorn Chess Academy organised the tournament from 28th to 29th June 2026 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The total prize fund was ₹2,00,000, with the top 3 prizes being ₹30,000, ₹25,000, and ₹20,000. Arvind's 1st Triumph of 2026
After the 8th round, Prakash Ram was leading the tournament with 7.5/8. In the final round on the top board, Indrajeet Mahindrakar defeated Prakash Ram, and Arvind Iyer defeated FM Arun Kataria to secure the 1st place.
A total of 287 players took part in this two-day Rapid Rating tournament. The time control was 15 minutes plus a 10-second bonus from move 1. The tournament was organised at TIT Group of Institutions, Bhopal.
