Upcoming tournaments in March 2020
The month of March features two elite level tournaments. On the very first day, FIDE Women's Grand Prix starts off in Lausanne, Switzerland. Couple of days after it concludes, from 17th March, FIDE Candidates 2020 will start at Yekaterinburg, Russia. It is the tournament which will determine the challenger for the World Champion Magnus Carlsen. World Senior Team Championship will take place from 5th - 15th March at Prague, Czech Republic. There are two open rating tournaments in India which has a huge prize fund - 4th Holi Cup Lakecity Open and 2nd Nitai Ghosh Memorial Open 2020. There are various other state level, national level standard and rapid rating tournaments across the country and all over the world.
For years players all across the world have been looking for a calendar that would meet their needs with regards to tournaments that are held all across the world. We, at ChessBase India, understand this requirement of the chess community. It is for this reason that we decided to launch a calendar which not only has all the Indian events, but tournaments all across the world.
1. The url of the page is chessbase.in/calendar. You can type it directly or you can go through the tabs at the top of the ChessBase India website.
2. When you open the calendar, the first tournament that shows you is from the current date. So if you open the calendar on 1st of March, you will get to see all the tournaments from 1st of March onwards.
3. If you would like to see the all the tournaments in the ChessBase India calendar, then click on the button 'archives'. You will get all the tournaments from November 2017 onwards
4. 'Submit your tournament' is an extremely important button that we would like organizers all around the world to use. Once you click on it, the following page opens up:
Once the tournament is submitted, our team will have a look at it and if it meets with our criteria, the tournament will be approved and listed on the ChessBase India calendar.
5. We have developed certain search filters which will help you to navigate the huge number of tournaments with ease.
If you would like to search a specific word in the calendar we recommend that you use the Ctrl+F function or you using the 'Find on page' function on your mobile browser. This is something that we are working on and will develop a function soon within the calendar as well.

FIDE Lausanne Women's GP 2019-20
The third event of FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2019-20 will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland from 1st - 14th March 2020. Ju Wenjun will be resume her GP after successfully defending her title earlier this year. FIDE GP 2019-20 leader Humpy Koneru will skip this event as all players can select a maximum of three out of four events. GM Zhao Xue will be replaced by IM Zhansaya Abdumalik. FIDE Candidates 2020
The most awaited event of the month is undoubtedly FIDE Candidates 2020. Why? Because it will determine the challenger for Carlsen's World Championship which might take place at Dubai Expo later this year. For more details, visit here.
World Senior Team Championship 2020
The World Senior Team Championship will take place from 5th to 15th March 2020 at Prague, Czech Republic. Total 118 teams from 31 countries around 547 players are slated to take part in it. For more details, click here.
Dubai Open 2020
The 22nd edition of Dubai Open 2020 will take place from 28th March - 8th April 2020. The tournament boasts a total prize fund of US$ 50000. While the player lineup is unknown so far, but if the previous years trend is to be followed then expect it to have another strong lineup of World's best of the best. For more details, click here.
2nd Nitai Ghosh Memorial Open 2020
The second edition of Nitai Ghosh Memorial Open 2020 will take place from 25th to 29th March 2020 at Greater Kailash, Jaipaiguri, West Bengal. The tournament will have a total prize fund of ₹555555. For more details, click here.
4th Holi Cup Lakecity Open 2020
The fourth edition of Holi Cup Lakecity Open Rating 2020 will have a total prize fund of ₹1101000. It will take place from 26th - 30th March 2020 at Orbit Resort, Udaipur, Rajasthan. For more details, click here.
