This August, play three Rapid Rating tournaments in West Bengal. The first one is an International Rapid Rating Open on Thursday 22nd August. It will be organized by Checkmate Chess Academy at ICCR, Kolkata, West Bengal. The total prize fund is ₹500000. The second event is - St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association and Department of Sports, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous) presents All Bengal Rapid Rating Open 2024. It will be held from 24th to 26th August. The total prize fund is ₹200000. Special attraction will be the World no.4 and India no.1 - GM Arjun Erigaisi. He will be the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony and also play Simultaneous Exhibition games. The third event is TCCCA All India Rapid Rating Open 2024. It will be organized by Town Club Chinsurah and Town Club Chess Academy. The total prize fund is ₹300000. All tournament info photos are from tournament circular.

The inaugural edition of International Rapid Rating Open will take place on Thursday 22nd August. The tournament is organized by Checkmate Chess Academy. Total prize fund is ₹500000.

Prizes

The total prize fund is ₹500000. The top three prizes are ₹40000 + trophy, ₹30000 + trophy and ₹20000 each. There are 20 main prizes, 32 rating category prizes; Top 3 in Best Women (Above 15) and Best Veteran (Above 60) categories. Four age group - Under-7, Under-9, Under-11 and Under-13 has ten trophies for Boys and five for Girls.

A total of 118 prizes are up for grabs

SXCAA All Bengal Rapid Rating Open - 24th to 26th August 2024

The inaugural edition of SXCAA All Bengal Rapid Rating Open will take place from 24th to 26th August. The tournament is presented by St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association and Department of Sports, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous). Total prize fund is ₹200000. Schedule

Inauguration is at 10 a.m. IST on Saturday 24th August. Each day the game starts at 10:30 a.m. IST. There will be four rounds each on 24th and 25th August. The last day on 26th August will have three rounds. For the entire schedule, check the image below.

Prizes

The total prize fund is ₹200000. The top three prizes are ₹20000, ₹16000 and ₹12000 along with a trophy each. There are 20 main prizes, Top 3 in Under-12 Boys and Girls, Under-16 Boys and Girls each category. Also there are top ten Boys and five Girls - College performers, top 20 Boys and 10 Girls in School performers. Trophy for the top 3 colleges and schools prizes by accumulating the score of the top 3 performers from the respective institution.

Rules and Regulations

Total eleven rounds will be played with a time control of 25 minutes + 5 seconds increment. Only current school and college/university students of West Bengal are eligible to participate. All players must upload and carry their student ID proof with them.

Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony will be the World no.4 and India no.1 - GM Arjun Erigaisi. Not only that, he will also play simultaneous exhibition games against the top three finishers of each category irrespective of rating and title. It means Arjun's can be unrated, rated or any titled player - CM/WCM/FM/WFM/IM/WIM/GM/WGM.

World no.4 and India no.1 - GM Arjun Erigaisi will be the Chief Guest of Closing Ceremony and play Simul too

TCCCA All India Rapid Rating Open will take place on 31st August and 1st September at Chinsurah Indoor Stadium. The tournament will be organized by Town Club Chinsurah and Town Club Chess Academy. Total prize fund is ₹300000.
