Sriram Jha superb at 12th David's Memorial Rating Open 2024 with a 100% score
Top seed, GM Sriram Jha scored a perfect 9/9 to win 12th David's Memorial Rating Open 2024. Sriram finished a full point ahead of the rest. Rajdip Das scored sole 8/9 to finish second. Stephen Malsawmtluanga, Benjamin Lalhmingliana and H Lalrinthanga scored 7/9 each. They secured third to fifth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹156100. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹20000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each. The three-day rating open tournament was organized by Mizoram Chess Association at Ramhlun Indoor Stadium in Aizawl, Mizoram from, 30th October to 1st November 2024. Grandmaster domination
Top seed, GM Sriram Jha, scorched the field by winning eight games in-a-row. Rajdip Das was the sole player trailing him by a full point. Although a draw would have sufficed, the Grandmaster went on to defeat Lalrinliana John to become the champion with a perfect score. Rajdip won against Lalnunsanga to secure second place. Lalrinsanga C lost to Stephen Malsawmtluanga and the latter finished third.
A total of 102 players including a GM took part from various parts of the country in this three-day nine round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Mizoram Chess Association at Ramhlun Indoor Stadium in Aizawl, Mizoram from 30th October to 1st November 2024. The time control of the event was 45 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.
