Satty Zhuldyz Rapid and Blitz 2023: Arjun Ergaisi increases his sole lead

by Shahid Ahmed - 25/04/2023

Arjun Erigaisi did not have the best start in the Blitz event of Satty Zhuldyz 2023. He scored only 2/5 in the first five games, winning only two and losing three. The India no.1 in Blitz recovered scoring 5/6 to finish the first day of Blitz with a 7/11 score. He missed a few wins and then won some games which could have gone either way. The most impressive performance of the day was by the World Blitz 2022 Bronze medalist, Haik Martirosyan. The Armenian scored an unbeaten 9/11. He set the tone of the day by winning against Arjun in the very first round of the day. Arjun is currently leading the tournament 16.5/20, followed by Levon Aronian 14.5/20 and then Haik 13.5/20. Blitz Round 12 starts today at 2 p.m. local time, 1:30 p.m. IST. Photo: Aditya Sur Roy

Haik Martirosyan scores an impressive 9.0/11 and remains undefeated

The two point lead in an eleven-round Blitz final day may not seem much, as we all know anything can happen in Blitz. Arjun will start the day for the third time in this event, against Haik Martirosyan. Although he might be three points behind, Arjun must-win this game to make sure his chances of catching up reduces drastically by minimizing his momentum.
