Muthu Rakesh Babu victorious at Intellion Corporate Chess Tournament Finals 2024

Muthu Rakesh Babu (Cisco) scored an unbeaten 6.5/7 to win The Ultimate Chess Competition Finals 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Arunkumar Nagarajan (Qualcomm) scored 6/7 to finish second. Three players - N Madhavan (Citi), Mithun Raj A (Citi) and Naveen Prabhu S (Light and Wonder) scored 5.5/7 each. They secured third, fourth and fifth place respectively according to tie-breaks. Muthu drew with Madhavan in the final round to become the champion. The tournament was held at Ramanujan IT Park in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was organized by the team of TATA Intellion and ChessBase India 19th and 20th July. Final was held on International Chess Day. 534 players show their interest in participation

Ramanujan Intellion Park is one of the office parks built by TATA Intellion and is a hub to some of the top companies like Amazon, AstraZeneca, TCS, Philips, Citi and many more. The registration process was conducted by the Intellion team where they circulated tournament details amongst the companies to nominate a list of players who would be interested in taking part at the chess tournament. 534 players registered themselves for the event. These players were divided into 4 sectors for the Day 1. Top 15 players from each sector played on the final day. The on ground team of arbiters were headed by V Dhanasekaran and S Balaji. The Deputy Chief Arbiter and coordinator of the event was Vivek Sohani.
