Iniyan clinches Latvian Chess Federation and FIDE 100-Year Anniversary Blitz Open 2024, Ilamparthi third

GM Pa Iniyan scored 10/11 to become a clear champion at Latvian Chess Federation & FIDE 100-Year Anniversary Blitz Tournament 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the field. IM Jakob Leon Pajekon (GER) scored sole 9.5/11 to secure second place. IM Ilamparthi A R finished third scoring 9/11. Ilamparthi was the only player to beat Iniyan in the ninth round. The total prize fund for the Blitz event was €1200. The first prize was €170 and a trophy. FM Niranjan Navalgund earned his final IM-norm in the GM Open A tournament with a fantastic performance. Indians claim four out of top ten in Blitz, Niranjan earns his final IM-norm

The 13th International Chess Festival - Riga Technical University Open 2024 has been a successful one for the Indians. In the Blitz event, Indians claimed two in the podium and four out of top ten places. In the GM Open A tournament, three Indians finished in top ten and FM Niranjan Navalgund earned his third IM-norm. We hope he fulfills the rating requirement and becomes an International Master soon.

A total of 237 players including 12 GMs, 12 IMs, 2 WGMs and a WIM took part from 22 countries across the world in this one-day eleven-round Swiss League Blitz Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Riga Technical University and Latvian Chess Federation at International Exhibition Center "Kipsala" in Riga, Latvia on 3rd August 2024. The time control of the tournament was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.

It was organized by Riga Technical University and Latvian Chess Federation at International Exhibition Center "Kipsala" in Riga, Latvia from 5th to 11th August 2024. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
