Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa set to square off World's best at Superbet Chess Classic 2024

The second event of the Grand Chess Tour 2024 season is Superbet Chess Classic. D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa are the two Indians in the lineup. They will face Fabiano Caruana (USA), Ian Nepomniachtchi, Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB), Wesley So (USA), Anish Giri (NED), Alireza Firouzja (FRA), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA) and Bogdan-Daniel Deac (ROU). Caruana is the defending champion. Who do you think will win this tournament? The tournament takes place at Grand Hotel Bucharest in Bucharest, Romania. Schedule and Format

Superbet Chess Classic will have one round played each day from 26th June to 5th July 2024. Each round starts at 3 p.m. local time, 5:30 p.m. IST. Except the last round on 5th July which will start at 2 p.m. local time, 4:30 p.m. IST. The sole rest day is on Monday 1st July. It will be a 10-player Round Robin event. Time control will be 120 minutes KO + 30 sec./move.

The lineup includes the World no.2 - Fabiano Caruana, World no.4 - Ian Nepomniachtchi, former World Rapid champion and World no.5 - Nodirbek Abdusattorov, FIDE Candidates 2024 winner and World no.6 - D Gukesh, former World Fischer Random champion and World no.9 - Wesley So, FIDE World Cup 2023 runner-up and World no.13 - R Praggnanandhaa, World no.14 - Anish Giri, World no.15 - Alireza Firouzja, former World Blitz champion and World no.19 - Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and, Romania no.2 and World no.50 - Bogdan-Daniel Deac.
