Eltaj Safarli wins 5th Fujairah Endurance Blitz 2024, Raunak Sadhwani second
GM Eltaj Safarli (AZE) and GM Raunak Sadhwani scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 each at 5th Fujairah Endurance Blitz Rating (Above 2000) 2024. Eltaj won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Raunak was placed second. The sixth round battle between them ended in a draw. They both finished a full point ahead of the field. GM Farrukh Amonatov (TJK) scored sole 6.5/9 to secure third place. The total prize fund of the tournament was AED 130000. The top three prizes in Blitz were AED 7000, 6000 and 5000 each respectively. Top two remain undefeated
GM Raunak Sadhwani and GM Eltaj Safarli (AZE) were the coleaders 7/8 heading into the final round. They both drew their round 9 games against GM Gadir Guseinov (AZE) and GM Adam Tukhaev (UKR) respectively. GM Farrukh Amonatov (TJK) also shared the point against GM Victor Bologan (MDA). Eltaj became champion, Raunak second and Farrukh third.

A total of 38 players including 16 GMs, 5 IMs and a WGM took part from 20 countries across the world. The one-day nine round Blitz Rating (Above 2000) tournament was organized by Fujairah Chess and Cultural Club at Novotel in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates on 20th January 2024. The time control of the event was 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment per move.
