Alireza Firouzja Triumphs at 4th Quantbox Chennai Grandmasters 2026

Alireza Firouzja scored an unbeaten 4.5/7 to win the 4th Quantbox Chennai Grandmasters 2026. Alireza started the event with 2 consecutive wins over Pranesh M and D Gukesh; after that, he drew his next 5 games to clinch the title with ease. In the final round, Alireza drew against Arjun Erigaisi, who was just a half point behind. Dmitry Andreikin scored his 1st win in the last round against Nodirbek Abdusattorov to score 4/7 and finish in 2nd place due to better tiebreaks than Arjun Erigaisi, who was also on 4/7. Unstoppable Frenchman

Alireza started the event with a win over Pranesh, and in the 2nd round he defeated Gukesh. He managed to gain a full-point lead just after 2 rounds and kept the lead for the next few rounds. Arjun Erigaisi caught up, but in the penultimate round Nihal Sarin defeated Arjun, which led Arjun to a must-win situation in the final round against Alireza with black pieces. Alireza managed to hold a solid draw and win the tournament.
