12-Year-Old Sairam Bala M wins 5th ICC Rapid Rating 2026
Sairam Bala M scored an unbeaten 8/9 points to win the 5th ICC International FIDE Rapid Rating 2026. Five players, including Sairam Bala M, Aakash G, Nandish V S, Nigash G, and Manigandan S S, scored 8/9 points to finish in 1st to 5th places, respectively, according to tiebreak scores. The tournament was organised by the Indian Chess Consortium on 26th April, with a total prize fund of ₹3,00,000. The top 3 prizes were ₹25,000, ₹20,000, and ₹15,000 along with trophies. Before the last round, Sarveshwaran, V, and Nandhish VS were co-leading the event with 7.5/8 points. On board 1, Sarveshwaran suffered a loss against Nigash G, while on board 2, Nandhish drew against Ram S. Krishnan, and Sairam Bala M defeated Adhul Adithyan J to clinch the title.
