2009-born Jihan Tejas Shah scores his maiden IM norm!
2009-born Jihan Tejas Shah from Gujarat just got his first IM norm in an amazing fashion. Jihan played the First Saturday Budapest IM B group from August 1st to 8th. He scored 7/9 points leading him to not only achieve the IM norm, but also win the tournament!

Jihan lost just 1 game in the event - against the top seed Aadik Theophane Lenin in the last round! His performance rating was 2467 still, which was enough for the norm.
Jihan had a massive rating gain of 97 points. He played against a total of 8 titled players which included 1 CM, 3FMs and 5 IMs - his best win against 2320-rated IM Rafat Issa from Jordan! Check out this brilliant attacking game from Jihan where he outplayed his opponent right from the opening.
Jihan lost just 1 game in the event, winning 6 and drawing two games. We wish him the best for his journey towards the IM title!
