#AskYifan: Q&A with Hou Yifan on ChessBase!

by Priyadarshan Banjan - 12/10/2016

At 14, she was already a grandmaster. At 16, the women's world champion. Hou Yifan is 22 now and is showing no signs of stopping. The Isle of Man wasn't a great event for her. However, it is but a minor setback. Don’t miss this chance to #AskYifan whatever chess question you ever wanted answered by a strong player, a world champion at that! Her views on Hijabgate? Women in chess? Her games where she beat the living daylights out of her opponents? Everything! Find out how...

#AskYifan: Q&A with Hou Yifan on ChessBase!

As a chess fan, have you ever wondered what your daily schedule is like?

If you are a student, you would most probably attend classes, and probably work on some assignments, and then follow the chess games online, play a ton of blitz, crushing and getting crushed.

If you are a professional, it would most likely consist of working all day, and playing and following games in the remaining time.

If you are someone who makes a living out of chess, it may be easier – you stay close to something that you like all the time.

Well, whatever it is that you are doing right now, put all of that on hold! Hou Yifan, the women’s world champion, is in Hamburg, at the ChessBase HQ. She will be doing an interaction session with EVERYBODY, via ChessBase’s Official Facebook and Twitter handles!

Hou Yifan, currently in Hamburg, Germany

This will probably be the last time for a long time that we will have a women’s world champion rated above 2600.

What?! You did not know about Hou Yifan quitting the Women’s World Championship cycle! Check our interview with Yifan immediately after she dropped out. (Link at the end of the piece.)

Hou Yifan is at the ChessBase HQ before she moves to Hoogeveen for her match with Nigel Short. This is should be interesting for more than one reasons if you know what I mean…
