The battle between two of the most talented Indian youngsters Karthikeyan Murali and Diptayan Ghosh ended in a draw.

The upset of the round was definitely Niranjan Navalgund's win over GM Adam Horvath

Niranjan Navalgund is currently on 6.5/8 at the Delhi Open 2017. He is gaining 87 Elo points and with a performance of 2643 he has excellent chances of scoring a GM norm. He has beaten GM Karen Movziszian, IM Saptarshi Roy, IM Shyam Nikhil and GM Adam Horvath. In round nine he faces GM Marat Dzhumaev.

Jitendra Choudhary caught up with him and asked him about his feelings after beating the strong Hungarian GM Adam Horvath, how does it feel to be close to a GM norm, and also what are his future plans - chess or writing?
